Medical Marijuana Dispensaries May Legally Operate Despite State Ban

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Medical Marijuana Dispensary is one of the newest members of the twenty-first century's expanding network of medical marijuana dispensary in Las Vegas. The proprietor/operator, Mr. Steven Winters is a certified a medical marijuana dispensing physician with over thirteen years experience in the field. His expertise as a caregiver to hundreds of terminally ill cancer patients gives him a unique vantage point to comment on the current state of medical marijuana and its effects on his patients.

"I've seen it first hand in my own practice," he states. "Cancer patients, all in their late stages, come to me asking for advice about medical marijuana. Most are chronic pain patients, but I've also seen many patients with glaucoma, and then complete reversals of glaucoma. All were getting tremendous benefits from marijuana that the physicians could not provide for them." He continues, "Now it seems the government has taken an entirely backwards approach and is prohibiting cultivation and distribution of this plant, claiming it is a gateway drug."

This is a bold statement indeed, and one that I can understand fully well. After twenty-nine years of working in the medical marijuana field, I can also testify that there is no gateway drug. But the government's sudden attack on the medical marijuana dispensary in Las Vegas bears some interesting clues. Like many other industries (including the car industry, which has been illegal for nearly forty years), the car industry was seen as a gateway drug. The "miracle drug" then, turned out to be something that caused problems of its own, in addition to providing "miracles" of its own.

In other words, the medical marijuana market in Las Vegas is simply an industry that was "regulated" (in a legal sense) in a manner that was intended to function as a legitimate business. That is to say, it is like any other business - if someone wanted to open a business, they would have to go through the state and federal government regulatory agencies, just like any other "commerce" enterprise. They would also have to comply with local zoning regulations, sales tax rates, and most important of all, "commerce laws" in order to remain legally solvent and profitable. With that knowledge, it is no surprise that government officials are trying to regulate the medical marijuana industry - just like they have every other industry in the state.

If the medical marijuana las vegas dispensary wants to stay "legal," and operate within the parameters of a free market, then they will have to find other outlets to sell their product. This is actually good news. It shows that the government recognizes that people need medicine, and they understand that competition is always good for consumers. They recognize that by allowing the medical marijuana dispensary in Las Vegas to continue operating at the free enterprise level, they will generate revenue that will pay for infrastructure, employee training, supplies and more, keeping the lights on in the medical marijuana dispensary in Las Vegas.

Of course, this is not really news, but rather is another way that the government is recognizing the need for regulated medical marijuana distribution. If it was free enterprise, then everyone involved in the medical marijuana las vegas dispensary would be doing well, right? So instead of investing capital into their company, they invest their profits into infrastructure that can produce the products. The government does realize that there is money to be made from the free enterprise model - and they want to help you make money. However, the amount they are willing to invest into this sector is limited, and so they are implementing various strategies to limit the amount they are willing to release to the sector.
